EAS (Electronic Article Surveillance)
It prevents shoplifting from retail stores, theft of books from the library, and articles from office buildings. Special tags are attached to the merchandise or books. They are deactivated when the customer buys the item. All of us have experienced this in the shopping malls. There is a detection system at the exit store and the alarm sounds if an active tag is detected. RFID seals are also used in storing the information of goods in containers. They are also used by the customs. An EAS system comprises of three primary components:-
- Electronic antenna
- Deactivator/detacher
- Electronic tag
Besides these, a supermarket surely has an electronic shelf label. It is a smart device with a wireless function that is used to display information such as product, price, origin, inventory, and barcode using electronic paper in e-ink. It decreases labor costs, eliminates pricing and data errors, accurate and efficient.
