Optical Fiber Cables (OFC)

Optical Fiber Cables (OFC)

Optical Fiber Cables are similar to electrical cables but they contain one or more optical fibers that carry light. They are made of good quality HDPE, good quality glass material, and allow high data signals to pass through. The elements of the optical fiber are coated with plastic layers and a protective tube which is suitable for the environment it is being used in. Color coding is used in OFC to indicate the type of fiber in use. Different types of optical cables are used for different purposes. For instance, it is used by junction data centers, telecommunication companies, Internet Service Providers, Railways, etc.
There are two main types of optical fiber cables: plastic and glass. Plastic fiber is used for a very short range such as consumer applications whereas glass is used for medium and long-range such as telecommunication.
